casa: the spanish word for house. a reminder of home, grounding, family, and phonetically similar to both our names.
木: the japanese word for tree. a nod to the forest, to intrinsic connectivity, and the special quality of sunlight filtering through the canopy (komorebi, 木漏れ日).
when spoken aloud, 木 is pronounced “ki”: another word used to describe the spirit, or energy, that moves through us.
“ki” is sometimes described as radio waves between people, something that can be tuned into with intention and practice.
together, these words honor each of our family’s heritages - as well as the feeling our images evoke.
